Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! We accept most insurance including: OHP, PacificSource Commercial, Providence, First Choice, Cigna, and Regence BCBS. We also contract with Moda, Aetna, TriCare, and others on a patient-by-patient basis. If your provider isn’t listed here, please let us know and we may be able to obtain in-network status for you.
What is the process of getting started like?
We start with an assessment to determine how you, your child, or your loved one’s skills compare to same-aged peers. Emily Johnson, the owner of Juniper Therapies, will meet with you in person and do the assessment. She will discuss results with you during that appointment when possible. Sometimes it may take 7 days to receive results. You will have the opportunity to review the formal write up of the assessment and decide if therapy is right for you. If you choose to proceed, you will schedule therapy with a therapist that is the best fit for your needs. We reassess regularly to make sure progress is on track.
How often is therapy and how long will it last?
Frequency and duration depend on the diagnosis, temperament of the patient, and home practice. Often therapy is scheduled weekly, but we are flexible and create a plan that is individualized to suit your needs. We also have telehealth experts who have honed their ability to create engaging sessions, even for little ones.
What types of things do speech therapists work on?
Articulation skills (learning to say specific speech sounds correctly), language skills (learning new vocabulary, increasing the number of words in a sentence, grammar skills), social skills, feeding/swallowing skills, fluency skills, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Traumatic Brain Injury recovery, Aphasia, auditory processing, and more.
Our therapists have also created several special programs that are fabulous additions to preschools, daycares, homeschool groups, and more! Call Emily to collaborate on developing a customized special skills group. Current projects include: Ms. Sam’s Music and Language Development Circle Time, Movement and Language Class, Social/Emotional Development Circle Time.
